  • End-Of-The-World Platform

Shock Top's latest (and first that I've ever really noticed) campaign plays off this whole 2012 being the end of the world idea.  They put together a nice :30 spot, and have good facebook engagement to drive the brand's "likes" by allowing consumers to "Dare" their friends to do something crazy before the end of the world.  The challenges could get interesting quickly, but I'm most interested to see what the brand does if the world still exists after 303 days.

  • Burton Snowboards X Star Wars

Luke Skywalker didn't become a Jedi overnight; he had to learn with the help of Master Yoda. Becoming a snowboarding Jedi takes some guidance as well, and that's where the new Star Wars™ inspired Riglet Park comes in. The Burton Riglet Park changes the learning process and opens up snowboarding to more and more youngsters by giving kids a  learning and teaching area that's safe and separate from the big kids. • RE:GENERATION Music Project

I caught this movie last night during one of its two day showings in theaters and it was phenominal! Hyundai and the Grammys put this project together which takes 5 DJs of different genres and has them team up with a music styles and artists of similar and contrasting types to produce a new song. The result is this very real and inspiring music documentary showing each experience and how it all came together.

    DJ Premiere w/ Classical Music
    Skrillex w/ Rock
    The Crystal Method w/ R&B
    Pretty Lights w/ Country
    Mark Ronson w/ Jazz

I encourage you to find it in theaters near you and go check it out! The next showing is February 23rd only!

  • Being an Artist in the 21st Century

I believe that Agencies as organizations have as one of their primary objectives trying to be Avant Garde. It is a difficult task in an age when groundbreaking concepts and innovative people come and go, when tastes and trends are changing much faster than in the pre-internet era. We are living in a time where becoming an "artist" is much more accessible to people, who, twenty years ago would never stand a chance of having an artistic career. A lot more people today are able to express themselves as talented and unique artists, compared to the past when it would only be achievable for a certain elite only. Today’s technology has triggered a new era in the arts, an “Artist’s Revolution”, which is driven by the power of the individual.

David Terranova is a visual artist that worked in several Ad Agencies before becoming a full time artist in NYC. I encourage seeing some of his work and thoughts on breaking through the clutter.

    Enjoy,
