I guess my path to advertising began when I was 14. It was at that time I decided to run for mayor of my hometown. Unhappy with the sanitation services being offered in Garland, I concocted a few lies (age, background, motivation) to get my name on the ballot. In a landslide decision – I lost.
Angry and bitter, I turned my back on politics and tried my hand at gang life. Rather than be a cliché, I decided to follow in the footsteps of pioneers like Raymond Washington and Ralph “Sonny†Barger and started my own gang. Known around Garland as the NGK, we served our community by beautifying vacant buildings and boxcars, supporting local trade and stimulating the economy. It was fun and all, but after a few stints in Huntsville, I decided to leave Garland and the NGK behind me.
After careers in both politics and crime, advertising just seemed a natural fit.
